Interview<\/h1><\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Some universities offer (Skype) interviews. These are rarely mandatory but can help the university get a better understanding of you as a person while offering you a chance to learn more about the university\/ies you applied to. You can opt in or out of these interviews on your application form. For some programs, such as the MBA, interviews are mandatory.<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]These interviews will not necessarily be held with faculty staff. Sometimes you will be talking to a member of the admissions office, or a university alum. It should go without saying that you have to be well prepared for the interview and that you should consider all potential questions as well as your answers.<\/p>\n

Some questions you can expect:<\/p>\n

  • What are your academic interests and plans?<\/li>\n
  • How did you become interested in your field of study?<\/li>\n
  • Why do you want to pursue your degree at this particular university\/department?<\/li>\n
  • How would you describe yourself?<\/li>\n
  • What is your greatest accomplishment\/failure?<\/li>\n
  • What is the most significant contribution you\u2019ve made?<\/li>\n
  • What is your strongest\/weakest point?<\/li>\n
  • What do you see yourself doing in the future? In five years? In ten\u00a0years?<\/li>\n
  • How will this program help you fulfil those goals?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Ask your family, friends and professors at your university to practice the interview with you.<\/li>\n
    • Make sure that your last interview will be with the school you most wish to attend so you can use all other interviews as practice.<\/li>\n
    • Make sure that you stay up to date on the most recent developments in your fields of interest.<\/li>\n
    • Remember to send the interviewer a thank you note after the interview.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Preparation<\/h4>\n

      It might be a good idea to prepare several questions for the interviewer, such as:<\/p>\n

      • How would you describe the atmosphere of this university\/department\/program?<\/li>\n
      • What’s are some of the most exciting projects you’ve seen from this program?<\/li>\n
      • Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in…?<\/li>\n
      • Anything you want to know about the program but haven’t found out yet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
