Submit your application
Submit your application
You’ll submit your application to a community college 1 year to 6 months before your departure. Each college has its own deadlines, therefore, always check what applies to the colleges of your choice. Make a schedule keeping track of when to apply and what documents you need to submit in the process.
Online application
A community college usually requires an online application form. Make sure you use the application for international students and follow the instructions on the college’s website. You will be asked for your contact and address information, prior education, visa status, finances, and interests. In some cases, colleges charge an application fee; this is an administrative fee to process your application, and is typically between $20 and $50 per college.
Additional documents
In addition to the online application, you will usually need to provide the following documents:
- Results of your English language test
You will have taken an English language test several months before applying to community college. Remember to send your score report directly to the college. - Transcript(s) and diploma
Your Dutch school will submit a copy of your transcripts, diploma, and credential evaluation report, if applicable. - Proof of financial support
By submitting an English bank statement, you will prove that you have sufficient finances to pay for your studies. - Application fee
This is an administrative fee for the college. - Copy of your passport
- Proof of health insurance
It is important to have good health insurance while studying in the US. A college may ask for proof that you are adequately insured, either through your Dutch insurance or insurance in the US.
Follow the college’s instructions for submitting the documents.
