Summer programs

Are you in high school or studying and interested in a short-term program in the US? Then a summer program may be for you. There are a variety of options, from language immersion programs to college prep programs and vocational programs.

What programs can you participate in?

American colleges and universities offer a variety of short programs during the summer months for scholars, students and professionals who want to improve their English language skills or subject knowledge.

English as a Second Language

Want to take an English language course and live on an American campus for a few weeks? Then you can apply for an ESL (English as a Second Language) program. You can take this program during the summer months or prior to your studies.

College prep program

Want to apply for a bachelor’s degree in the US? Some colleges offer preparatory programs where you learn more about the admissions process, the American education system, and life on an American campus. Oftentimes, you can also take some preparatory academic courses. One example is the EducationUSA Academy program, which you can read more about below.

Subject-based programs

Want to immerse yourself in a new subject and obtain a certificate for it? American universities also offer short programs of several weeks or months in which you delve into a single subject.

Are you between the ages of 15 and 17 and in the process of looking into obtaining a bachelor’s degree in the US? Would you like to experience what an American campus is like and visit different types of campuses? Then the EducationUSA Academy might be for you. You can attend a college prep program at over 13 American campuses during the summer months.

SummerStudyinUSA

In the SummerStudyinUSA database, you can find summer programs at many US colleges and universities. You can search the database by level (scholar, student, professional), field of study, and indicate whether you want to get a certificate or not. SummerStudyinUSA also organizes regular virtual fairs where you can speak to college representatives.

Study of the US Institutes

The Fulbright Commission offers college and university students the opportunity to participate in a summer program funded by the U.S. Department of State at no cost. The Summer Institutes have different academic areas of focus. Please note that there is selection for this program and there are deadlines for application.
