EducationUSA advising services and Fulbright Commission scholarships

EducationUSA in the Netherlands is hosted by the Fulbright Commission the Netherlands. Our center is based in Amsterdam. We provide Dutch students with comprehensive, unbiased and current information on study opportunities in the U.S. The EducationUSA Center organizes webinars, college fairs and assists students as they have questions throughout the application process.

Additionally, Dutch high school graduates can apply for several undergraduate- and non-degree scholarship programs at the Fulbright Commission. The Fulbright Commission is actively looking for partner universities that can offer supplemental scholarships for our one-year, non-degree programs for talented Dutch high school graduates. Financial Aid Opportunities for Dutch students

Unlike for graduate study, scholarship funds for undergraduate students are limited in the Netherlands. Below is a list of resources for undergraduate students looking to study abroad in the U.S.

Opportunities for degree-seeking students

  • Ivy Circle Scholarship for high school students: this scholarship provides $2,500 to cover application costs and travel to the U.S.
  • Monthly stipends from the Dutch government: starting academic year 2023-2024, students in the Netherlands are eligible for a monthly stipend from the Dutch government. Eligible students can apply for the montly stipend, plus an additional travel stipend (“ov kaart vergoeding”) for study abroad at an accredited institution. Read more.
  • Student loans from the Dutch government: Dutch citizens enrolling in a degree-seeking program abroad, may be eligible to bring a low-interest student loan to cover tuition costs. Read more.

Opportunities for non-degree students

  • Campus Scholarship Program: assists talented high school graduates to study one year in the U.S. with a scholarship from U.S. universities. The year will be partially funded by the students and parents with a minimum budget of $25,000. The Fulbright Commission is actively looking for partner universities that will consider these students for admission and supplemental scholarships. Read more about the Campus Scholarship Program.
  • Trailblazer Opportunity Scholarship: one or two scholarships valued at $23,000 to enable high achieving, low income Dutch high school graduates to study in the US for one year. Additional costs including flights, the visa application, insurances, books and personal expenses are also covered by the Fulbright Commission. The Fulbright Commission is actively looking for partner universities that can offer Trailblazer grantees a supplemental scholarship to study at their institution. College Night, 23 september 2024

College Night is an annual event, organized by EducationUSA, the Fulbright Commission and Ivy Circle Netherlands, and the successor to the annual fair initiated in 2012 and organized until 2019 by Ivy Circle. The event is held anually at a central location in Utrecht, the Netherlands. College Night is part of the Western Europe Tour, with events in London, Brussels, Luxembourg, Utrecht and Madrid.
