Stetson Law’s LL.M. in International Law allows students to advance their legal education in an intensive one-year program that leads to an advanced legal degree in international law. Stetson’s program accommodates the specialization needs of both experienced practicing attorneys and recent law school graduates from the U.S. and abroad. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates to enter the global marketplace thoroughly prepared for positions in business, government, education, and international law practice or related professions. Stetson’s LL.M. in International law offers two different tracks to cater to individual students’ desired career goals: General Studies and Public/Private International Law.  The General Studies track is designed for foreign students who are interested in sitting for the New York State Bar. This track, which focuses on U.S. law and legal methods, is designed to allow the law school to certify that the LL.M. student has the basic competence and the ability to participate ethically in the legal profession. The Public/Private International Law track stresses subjects of fundamental importance to all international lawyers and a diverse elective curriculum which allows students a wide range of choices to pursue their own individual career interests in public as well as in private international law. Additionally, this track features special courses designed exclusively for foreign-educated attorneys. Stetson offers a mandatory two-week introductory course for foreign-educated students enrolled in the LL.M. program designed to facilitate the process of understanding and overcoming the challenges of the study of law in different legal and educational systems. Foreign-trained attorneys can also use the Public/Private International Law track to apply to a 2-year J.D. program at Stetson Law following the successful completion of their LL.M. in International Law.
